What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites work efficiently and provide information to site owners.

How we use cookies

SimmaSend uses a small number of cookies, all essential to the functioning of the service. We do not use any analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

The cookies we set

Teacher identity cookie

When a teacher first uses SimmaSend, they enter their name and subject. This is stored in an HTTP-only browser cookie (365-day expiry) so the system recognises them on return visits. The cookie contains an opaque token linked to the teacher's record — not their name or personal information directly.

Admin session cookie

When a school administrator signs in via a magic link, a session cookie keeps them signed in. It expires after 24 hours, after which a new magic link is needed. This cookie is essential for the admin dashboard.

Supabase authentication cookies

Supabase (our database provider) sets cookies to manage authentication sessions. These are strictly necessary for the service to function.

Error monitoring

We use Sentry to monitor technical errors so we can keep the service reliable. This is not analytics or advertising, and personal data is scrubbed from error reports before they are sent. Sentry does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on this site, and session replay is disabled — no session recording takes place.

Third-party cookies

SimmaSend does not use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics or advertising cookies. We do not track your browsing behaviour across other websites.

Disabling cookies

You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but this will prevent SimmaSend from functioning correctly. In particular, teachers will need to re-enter their name and subject each visit, and administrators will not be able to stay signed in.
